Portable Wood Stove

A portable wood stove can fall into many categories. Some consider them only good for backpacking, others look to them for camping. If you are moving between campsites or tents and have a car or truck to move it around, then your size can be bigger.

There are several options for larger-sized portable wood stoves. Some tend to be smaller, movable versions of the big fixed steel types. Others are modeled after military type technology, such as the heater below:

 

 

This offers a lot more heating power than an alcohol or simple backpacking heater. It has features like a mini chimney and will work with your tents to provide inside heat, a key necessity in winter. Its a little more setup and maintenance though, but generally gets great reviews.
