Forester Wood Stove

General Review:

The Forester wood stove is a model line from US Stove that is well regarded. There are a couple different model lines for this, the Model #3700 being the most popular. Look to pay anywhere from $1200 to $1600 for these units.

Key Features

Some other options to consider include the vent adapter to allow conversion to standard 6" stove pipe from the 3"

  • Rated up to 1300 sq. ft.
  • EPA certified
  • 63000 BTU
  • 3 year limited warranty

Advantages:

Although its rated up to 1300 sq. ft it will easily heat more than that. The design is quite nice and offers a solid view of the wood and flames. The ashpan is good-sized and easy to work with for ash removal. They are also known to be extremely durable.

Disadvantages:

The 3700 is available in only top vent. You will need to look at the smaller, less powerful 3500 for a rear vent option. While it does tend to generate more heat than its really rated for, the burn time especially overnight is not that great. This is mostly due to the smaller 16 inch log sizes accepted. Its also not compliant to Washington or California regulations.

Final Thoughts:

This is a good choice for a powerful burner in a smaller size home that doesn't need a lot of long extended burn times. The quality is also very solid.
