Enviro EmpressGeneral Review: The Enviro Empress is a solid pellet stove with good durability. This is one of the quietest units out on the market, in our opinion. It also has a great classic look which makes it one of those rare designs that people actually like to have in their living rooms! You can actually see the fire which gives it more of that home-like feel. The cast iron is a definite different look from the standard steel. Another nice touch is an intelligent standby mode, which basically tells the stove to hold instead of turning off completely if heat isn’t needed by the thermostat. It drastically improves heat output when when a kick-in is needed. It will get some comparisons to the Harman Accentra. It’s generally priced a few hundred dollars more than the Harman, but does tend to run quieter. The Accentra arguably puts out more heat. It’s a smaller unit so it just doesn’t push out the same amount of heat. It rates at a respectable 35000BTU but part of the reason may be a weaker blower fan. While it is quiet, you may want to consider a box fan or other device to help circulation, depending on your house setup. Some of the earlier models, released in the mid-2000s, had issues with the circulation fans, which has been resolved. However, you may get occasional high-pitched noises coming from the auger area on the stove. This can be due to a stuck pellet, so consider checking the auger setup once in a while.
