Aluminum Chiminea

In recent years, many manufacturers have moved away from the traditional cast iron and clay materials and have created aluminum chimineas. This metal offers many advantages over traditional designs and often times is much more suitable for the deck or garden.

From a look standpoint, aluminum chimineas are often cast from the cast iron and copper molds so they have the same design and appearance as standard units. Unlike clay, though, they usually cannot be easily painted.

Aluminum will not rust. One of the drawbacks to cast iron, copper, or sheet metals is that they tend to rust over time. Also, these other metals can stain your deck or patio. Aluminum does not react with moisture and this is a much more forgiving material for use outdoors. They can potentially be used year-round. Its still worth using a cover as this will keep debris and moisture from settling on your unit and affecting future use.

Another advantage of aluminum chimeneas is that they are lighter weight than iron or clay. This makes them more movable if the layout of your deck or garden changes. We even have customers who take them to the weekend house or log cabin. One drawback to this can be that the lighter weight makes it easier to tip over in high winds. If you are setting up your aluminum chiminea in a campground or other public spot, it may make it easier to steal, although most fellow outdoorsman usually have a level of respect.

Keep in mind the advantages of an aluminum chiminea when you are looking for your next outdoor heater.
