Harman XXV Pellet StoveGeneral Review: The Harman XXV is one of the best selling in their lineup. Its gotten a high rating of satisfaction from many users. Key Features Some other options to consider include the vent adapter to allow conversion to standard 6" stove pipe from the 3"
Its a nice looking unit especially for the cast iron, where it still manages to look modern. Stove looks great, all cast iron. I vented with the top vent adapater to 6" stove pipe, with this option it looks just like a wood stove. It has a lot of nice tech features as well, including the thermostat and auto start. It kicks out a solid amount of heat, easily warming up houses up to 2000 sq. ft. even though Harman conservatively rates it at 1700. Disadvantages: Its a little bit pricey especially when compared to log burners. I've seen them run from $2800 up to about $3000 or so. The air blower can also be susceptible to squealing in some cases, but more so for units manufacturered 3-4 years ago. If it is an issue, it can be fixed under the warranty. As with most blowers, they can get a little noisy above medium even without the squeal. The feed motor and auger can be a little noisy but it appears to quiet down after a week or two of break-in period. It also prefers to have a semi-regular cleaning or scrape out on the burn pot. Final Thoughts: A few years past the XXV had a few tech and mechanical issues but recent reports seem to indicate that those are mostly past. It definitely kicks out a lot of heat. I would just make sure to get regular maintenance and cleaning done on it to ensure a clean, healthy burn.
